Arts and Prehistory from 16 November 2022 to 22 May 2023

With the exhibition Arts and Prehistory, the Musée de l’Homme invites the public to take a leap back in time to the period of the first masterpieces produced by humans. Visitors will discover 90 prehistoric works, the Venus of Lespugue or Laussel, wall paintings from the caves of Lascaux and Chauvet, sculpted animals and engraved objects. Treasures conserved at the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle and the tablet known as the ‘radiant Aurochs’, unveiled to the public for the first time.

A digital space enables visitors to discover works adorning cave walls and rock faces throughout the world, such as Sulawesi in Borneo or Foz Côa in Portugal, discovered recently. Inspired by prehistoric art, works by modern artists also provide a new perspective on the subject. Exhibition runs from 16 November 2022 to 22 May 2023.
