Roland-Garros tournament direction has released the list of players taking part in the men's and women's singles at the 2015 French Open, which will be held from Sunday 24 May –Sunday 7 June.

Of the 104 players given direct acceptance into the final draw of the men's singles, there are the top 99 in the ATP rankings as of 13 April 2015, followed by five players with a protected ranking (Juan Martin Del Potro, Tommy Haas, Florian Mayer, Radek Stepanek and Janko Tipsarevic).

Eight French players were given direct acceptance into the final draw of the men's singles: Gilles Simon (No.13), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (No.14), Gaël Monfils (No.18), Richard Gasquet (No.27), Adrian Mannarino (No.30), Jérémy Chardy (No.35), Julien Benneteau (No.39) and Benoît Paire (No.90).

The men's singles draw will feature 128 players, including 16 qualifiers and eight wild-cards who will be named at a later date.

In the women's draw, two players have a protected ranking – Bethanie Mattek Sands (USA) and Laura Robson (GB) – and they have joined the top 106 who were given direct acceptance.

This means that all of the top women's players will be battling it out in the hope of winning the Coupe Suzanne-Lenglen and following in the footsteps of Maria Sharapova as women's singles champion.

Four French players were given direct acceptance into the final draw of the women's singles: Alizé Cornet (No.28), Caroline Garcia (No.29), Kristina Mladenovic (No.58) and Pauline Parmentier (No.89).

The women's singles draw will also feature 128 players, including 12 qualifiers and eight wild-cards who will be named at a later date.

List of players taking part

Roland-Garros tournament direction has released the list of players taking part in the wheelchair tennis tournament (men's and women's) which will be held from Wednesday 3 – Friday 5 June.

In the women's draw, the elite will also be present at the Porte d'Auteuil. World No.1 Yui Kamiji (JPN) is the defending champion and will start very much as the favourite this time around.

The Musée Picasso Paris collection comprises over 5,000 works and tens of thousands of archived pieces. For its quality and scope as well as the range of art forms it encompasses, this collection is the only one in the world to present both Picasso’s complete painted, sculpted, engraved and illustrated œuvre and a precise record—through sketches, studies, drafts, notebooks, etchings in various stages, photographs, illustrated books, films and documents—of the artist’s creative process

What remains when everything has already been photographed? When decades of photographic recordings seem to have exhausted all subjects, all imaginable set-ups and all possible angles? What remains when reality itself seems extenuated by dint of being duplicated? Photography itself is what remains. The Centre Pompidou has decided to exhibit the results of these questionings through nearly eighty works and documents, covering the entire history of photography and the work of key figures in modern and contemporary art. Ever since the avant-gardes, artists have been exploring the medium of photography, trying to understand its specific character. "The essence of the modern spirit," wrote the American critic Clement Greenberg, "is defined by the use of characteristic methods of a discipline to criticise the discipline itself, not in order to subvert it but in order to entrench it more firmly in its area of competence." The artists of Pop ar(...)

A new presentation of the contemporary collections of the Centre Pompidou, "Une histoire", enables viewers to discover over 400 works in the Museum dating from the Eighties to the present day: a first-time opportunity to look back at the art of the last 30 years. With paintings, sculptures, installations, videos, films, drawings, photographs and architectural and design models, it offers a themed circuit through ultra-contemporary creation, with the works of nearly 180 artists and some 50 architects and designers from 55 countries. Some of the works presented only entered the collection recently, while many others are being exhibited for the first time. The history of art during the last thirty years encompasses the globalisation phenomenon, with the emergence– in the eyes of Western countries – of new artistic territories all over the world.

1989 marked a break with the past and the start of a new era. The fall of the Berlin Wall le(...)

Champions League Last-16, second leg, Stamford Bridge - Chelsea 2 (Cahill 81, Hazard 96 (pen)) Paris Saint Germain 2 (Luiz 86, Silva 114) - (PSG win on away goals - 3-3 on aggregate)

Thiago Silva went from villain to hero as 10-man Paris Saint Germain survived the first-half sending off of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to secure a 2-2 draw and dump Chelsea out of the Champions League on away goals.

The Brazilian defender seemed to have quite literally handed the tie to Jose Mourinho's men when he gave away an extra-time spot kick that Eden Hazard converted with typical nonchalance to put the Blues 2-1 ahead on the night.

The defender looked horrified by his mistake but made amends six minutes from time with a stunning header that saw Laurent Blanc's side defy the odds to progress to the last eight.

It had looked like being a bitter night racked with controversy for the French side when Gary Cahill broke the deadlock nine minutes from the end of normal time, after Ibrahimovic was shown a harsh straight red card for a foul on Oscar in the first half.

The visitors could easily have felt sorry for themselves, but they kept battling and David Luiz came back to haunt his old teammates with a header that forced extra-time where Silva's moments of horror and joy eventually ended in progression for Blanc's team.

The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris offers a unique opportunity to make the city yours by participating in one of the most prestigious races over the legendary 42.195 km distance.

The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris is now one of the biggest marathons in the world, as much for the size of its field as the performances of its runners. Each finisher comes home with incredible memories.

Nearly 140 nationalities and 50,000 runners come to tackle the most fabled long-distance discipline in athletics. In April, this race across Paris, taking in the Champs Elysées, the Bois de Vincennes and Boulogne, offers an incomparable backdrop, with spectacular views and landmarks all along the route.

The Salon du Running fair at Porte de Versailles, taking place three days before the marathon, is also an occasion not to be missed, a gathering of over 80,000 visitors with more than 200 professionals from the running world.

The marathon itself combines personal challenge with the chance to discover one of the world's great cities. The athletes will pound the pavements of the French capital's most famous avenues and plazas, from the foot of the Arc de Triomphe, where they take the start, towards the Place de la Concorde. From the Rue de Rivoli they'll then sweep through the Place de la Bastille. After a glimpse of greenery in the Bois de Vincennes, views of Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower point the way home. Every year, this unique and spectacular setting attracts more and more entrants. There are now more than 16,000 runners from abroad, making up 35% of the field.

So, come and join us at the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris.
